1. Who we are
Tap This is a South African digital identity and connected tag service. In this policy, “Tap This”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the Tap This website, profiles, store and related services.

2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Tap This, we may collect:
- Account information such as your name, email address, authentication method and account preferences.
- Profile content you choose to add, including contact details, biography, links, images, business details and pet information.
- Order and fulfilment information such as products, customisation choices, delivery details, order status and payment references. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by Tap This.
- Connection, scan and usage information, including when a tag or profile is opened, device and browser information, IP address, referring page and actions taken on the service.
- Messages, support requests and other information you send to us.
3. Public profiles and connected tags
A core part of Tap This is sharing information through a public profile, QR code or NFC tag. Information on a published profile can be viewed by anyone who has its link or code. You control the content you publish and should only make information public that you are comfortable sharing.
Private account, payment and administration information is not included in your public profile.
4. How and why we use information
We use personal information to:
- Create and secure accounts, authenticate sign-ins and provide account recovery.
- Publish and operate profiles, tags, connections, analytics and wallet passes.
- Process orders, payments, production, delivery, subscriptions and refunds.
- Provide support, service notices and communications you have requested.
- Prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents, and meet legal obligations.
- Understand and improve how the service performs.
- Send marketing only where permitted, with an option to unsubscribe.
We process information where it is needed to perform our agreement with you, where you have consented, where the law requires it, or where we have a legitimate interest that does not unfairly override your rights.
5. Service providers and sharing
We do not sell your personal information for third-party marketing. We may share only the information needed with trusted providers that help us operate Tap This, including cloud hosting, databases, authentication, payment processing, email delivery, analytics, production, couriers and professional advisers.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, or as part of a business reorganisation subject to appropriate safeguards.
6. International processing
Some providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to use providers and arrangements that protect personal information in a manner consistent with applicable South African law.
7. Retention and security
We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including account operation, order and tax records, dispute resolution, fraud prevention and legal requirements. Retention periods vary by type of information.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong password and protect access to your email and devices.
8. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to access, correct or delete personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, or stop direct marketing. You can update much of your profile information from your account.
Send a request to info@tapthis.co.za. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You may also raise a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
9. Cookies and similar technology
Tap This may use essential browser storage and cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect the service and understand basic usage. You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking essential storage may prevent account features from working.
10. Children
Tap This is not intended for use by a person under 18 without the involvement and permission of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. We will publish the updated date on this page and provide additional notice where a change materially affects your rights.
